Description
PINCH is a new, versatile belay device with assisted locking for sport climbing, multi-pitch climbing, and rope access work. PINCH is the first product on the market that can be attached directly to the harness's central belay loop. Thanks to its low and close-to-body position, PINCH does not need to be held when giving out rope, and the brake rope can always be held with all fingers.
Furthermore, the compact belay system provides increased reach, allowing the belayer to pay out 20–30 cm more rope at a time. The linear rope feed through the front steel brake grooves reduces tangling during lowering and rappelling. In addition to the lowering lever, speed can be controlled by the pressure from the brake hand, which contributes to increased control, especially when using thin and soft ropes.
Safety and flexibility
The anti-panic function provides extra safety, and not just for beginners. A special feature is the integrated second braking stage, which allows controlled lowering by pulling the lowering lever one step further – perfect when belaying very light people or in systems with high rope friction. Experienced users and rope access technicians can permanently deactivate the anti-panic function with a provided screw.
Advantages for multi-pitch climbing
Another plus: When used on multi-pitches, PINCH is the only product on the market that can be attached to the belay point in four different directions at 90° intervals. This means that the lowering lever can always be placed in a position where it can be freely operated.
Features
-
Assisted locking belay device for versatile use in sport climbing, multi-pitch tours and rope access work.
-
Close-to-body placement thanks to direct attachment to the harness, providing increased control over the brake rope and improved usability.
-
Direct attachment to the harness eliminates the risk of cross-loading the belay carabiner.
-
Deactivatable anti-panic function for increased safety; the device automatically locks if the lowering lever is pulled back too far.
-
Extra braking stage if the anti-panic function is activated too often due to low load and/or high rope friction.
-
Steel brake grooves on the front allow the rope to run linearly, reducing tangling, increasing durability and preventing discoloration that occurs when the rope rubs against aluminum.
-
Attachment to the belay point possible in four different directions at 90-degree intervals.
